Edge to Edge stitching project which will give people the opportunity to create handmade bunting for their community in their local church.
Artist and facilitator, Luna Russell will lead the adult sessions and explained “Edge to Edge aims to celebrate people and places that are connected by the Downs Link.
Through a series of workshops based in beautiful churches that are positioned along or close to the Downs Link I will be creating bunting flags with participants. Each Flag will be embroidered with imagery and words that represent the maker and the community in which they live, inspired by their local heritage and the changing seasons and uses of the Downs Link. Each set of bunting will be kept at the church for use at future community events.” Following the workshops Luna will create a central flag for each group made from reclaimed copper from the roof of Chichester Cathedral, which is currently being replaced as part of a restoration project. The design of the copper flag will be inspired by the workshops and the people taking part.
