Romeo and Juliet
HAODS are proud to present Romeo and Juliet in a weekend. As part of the Horsham District Year of Culture we will have prepared for this unique event from May culminating in a one-off performance on Sunday 1 September at the Capitol at 7pm.
Romeo and Juliet was written in 1595 and is set in Verona, Italy. The play centers on a long-standing feud that comes between two noble families – the Montagues and the Capulets. With street fights constantly breaking out, brawling on the streets is not limited to the young. Prince Escalus, ruler of Verona, finally threatens terrible punishment on anyone who takes part in further violence and when Romeo and Juliet fall in love at first sight, this starts the cycle that ends in tragedy for the ‘star crossed lovers’.
Open to all over 12 in the Horsham District, not just HAODS members, the full cast will come together on Saturday 31 August at the Capitol to take part in stage craft exercises, rehearse and stage the play with rehearsals on both Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September.
We will be looking for people to help with props, costumes, publicity and set including licensed chaperones for the younger team members.
This is an opportunity to learn how a show is created and pick up new skills along the way, for more information contact HAODS via the website.
Tickets are available from the Capitol priced at £10 with concessions at £5.
If you are interested in being part of this exciting event, come along to hear more on Sunday 3 March at 2pm and watch out for regular updates on the HAODS website.
