Horsham District Year of Culture calendar

A full-colour photographic calendar featuring 12 “hidden gems” from across the Horsham District has been developed to celebrate the forthcoming Horsham District Year of Culture in 2019 and is on sale at local outlets now.

Organisers of the Year of Culture celebrations Horsham District Council have always been keen to get as many people as possible involved in the year-long celebrations, so at the outset of the preparations they asked members of the public to vote on their favourite ‘hidden gems’ of the District, resulting in 12 places that will be celebrated during 2019 and featured in the calendar.

The 12 hidden gems are – the Blue Idol Quaker Meeting House in Coolham, Coldwaltham Yew tree, Cobblestone Walk in Steyning, Chesworth Farm, Kithurst Hill, Knepp Castle, Motte and Bailey in North Horsham, Warnham Local Nature Reserve, Woods Mill in Henfield, Pulborough Brooks, South Downs Link and Sumners Pond in Barns Green.

Each gem is depicted in full-colour photography throughout the calendar.

Money off coupons are also available at the back of the calendar offering over £20 of discounts off products and services from tea rooms, cafes and beer stockists across the District.

A calendar of the gems is on sale now (RRP £4.99) and every calendar purchased raises £1 for local vulnerable people of Horsham District.

Commenting on the calendar, Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure Cllr Jonathan Chowen said:

“Creating a 2019 Calendar of Hidden Gems is a great way to kick start our Year of Culture celebrations and it was good to get so many members of our local community involved in voting for their favourite hidden gems in the Horsham District.

“The calendar also highlights many of the amazing events and activities which will be going on throughout the year of celebration.

“I would urge as many of you as possible to buy a copy, discover the District’s hidden gems and help to raise money for local vulnerable people.”

The calendar can be found in the following outlets:
