The first stage of grants applications to the Horsham District Year of Culture 2019 is still open for one more month with the deadline of Thursday 30 November 2017.
Since the launch at the end of September, the Year of Culture team at Horsham District Council have received numerous expressions of interest from groups and individuals from across the district with their ideas. Projects are covering the heritage, community, dance, music and film sectors to mention a few but there’s still plenty of time to put forward more ideas.
Jonathan Chowen, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: ‘The launch of the Year of Culture showed the level we want to achieve with this project and we’ve been so pleased that so many people in the district have connected with the ideals which this year could achieve.
“We still have one more month until the deadline closes for expressions of interest – the first stage in the grants process – and I’m certain we will see many more potential projects coming in which will represent culture in this area.”
Once the deadline passes, the expressions of interest will be considered by a group made up of council officers and external advisors to ensure a cross section of the community and culture of the district are represented for a fair spread of grant allocation.
