Horsham District Council’s Voluntary Sector Support team is hosting a series of community pop up events across the District’s libraries to celebrate National Volunteers’ Week from 1 to 7 June 2019.
The Council is keen to celebrate the major contribution that local volunteers give throughout the whole of Horsham District, across a broad spectrum of sectors, and thank them all for their efforts.
Additionally, the Council is looking to encourage local people to get involved with the many diverse voluntary and consumer groups in our area.
The roadshow of community events is set to start in Horsham Library on Saturday 1 June from 10.30am to 1pm.
It will then move on to Southwater Library on 3 June from 10.30 to 12.30pm and Henfield Library from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
On 4 June the roadshow moves to Billingshurst Library from 2pm to 5pm where there will be a Volunteer Tea Party offering plenty of opportunities to chat to the Council team about volunteering in the community and how the service works.
On 5 June the pop-up event will be in Storrington Library from 10am to 12pm and on 6 June it will transfer to Pulborough’s Wyevale Garden Centre from 11am to 2pm.
Steyning Library will host the final event on 7 June from 10am to 12pm.
Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available to all who come along for an informal chat about volunteering.
There is no minimum time commitment to volunteering generally. Some organisations are happy for a volunteer to help them on an ad hoc basis – as infrequent as one event a year, others might look for a longer-term commitment. Volunteering is extremely flexible and can fit around work commitments, part-time or otherwise, grandparent or caring duties – there is something for everyone.
Existing Volunteers are also invited to the celebratory tea party taking place at Billingshurst Library where Horsham District Council councillors will be meeting and thanking people for their invaluable contribution to the District.
